I thought it might be helpful to have a quick reference sheet that lists the common order of pages when constructing your document. This order is somewhat flexible. For example, you could put the acknowledgments at the end of the book instead of the beginning. Also, you don't even have to have an acknowledgments page if you don't want one. I put a * beside pages that are optional.
Front Matter (the beginning pages of the book)
Title Page (title, author, publisher)
Copyright (disclaimer, copyright notice, name of cover artist)
Dedication*
Acknowledgments*
Books page (list previous works)*
Table of Contents
Preface*
Main Text of Your Novel
Back Matter
Announcements* (possibly announcing the next book in the series)
Preview* (include a chapter of another book in order to give a free preview)
About the Author*
Links to Social Media, Website, etc.*
